Global Voices for Peace started as a response to a feeling of tension that bordered on despair and helplessness. As someone who dedicates time and energy to advocating for human rights, justice, and equity I felt this sense of despair, reinforced with images of violence and destruction, all too often in the news and on social media newsfeeds.
I belong to a community of peacebuilders and social justice advocates who work tirelessly at their vocation and have been doing so for decades. Yet, we continue to see conflict throughout the world. The more I thought about it, the more I felt I wanted to find a way to promote the work that peacebuilders are doing.

I reached out to the community and invited them to share their thoughts. In this way Global Voices for Peace was born.

Three Goals
-
Increase the understanding that peacebuilding is 'alive and well' the world over, and that peace is possible.
-
Connect peacebuilders around the world and create opportunities for collaboration and mutual support in their peacebuilding work.
-
Readers around the world will be inspired and motivated to look further into the contributors, their organizations and their projects.
Ultimately, I am hopeful that the reader will come to see that each of us can take conscious steps in our own lives to move toward making global peace a reality and become, in their own way, a peacebuilder.

Project Goals

The Contributors

The contributors to Global Voices for Peace are a small, representative group of people; there are so many more people working in peace than this book could possibly accommodate. I expect we will continue to hear more about what is happening in the field as we elevate these voices.

The anthology is an introduction to people around the world who are building peace, from frontline advocates to journalists, politicians, artists, academics, and everyday peacebuilders. It is an introduction to concepts, perspectives, and opinions as diverse as the contributors to this anthology - from over 50 different nations spanning the globe.

Our Beneficiaries

Another goal of the project is to support our chosen beneficiaries. It is hoped that, with your support through purchasing your copy, Global Voices for Peace will show a modest net profit. We will be donating net proceeds to organizations that support peacebuilding initiatives, and with whom we have built a relationship over the years. These include Right to Learn Afghanistan and the Rotary Peace Fellowship Alumni Association.

Our Mission
Right to Learn Afghanistan exists to make the right to education a reality for Afghan women and girls.
We uphold the fundamental human right to a quality education by providing purposeful educational programs and access to opportunities that foster agency, dignity, and choice.

Build Peace, Make Peace, Promote Peace
What is the Rotary Peace Fellows Alumni Association?
We are a non-profit organization established in 2019 with the mission to organize Rotary Peace Fellowship alumni, increase networking opportunities among Peace Fellows, and to better facilitate collaboration with Rotary to expand the promotion of peace worldwide.
